Class of 2020 – Commencement Update

May 7, 2021

Dear Class of 2020,

Since the cancelation of the in-person commencement exercises last spring due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, Tulane vowed to bring you all back for an in-person recognition to celebrate your academic achievement. With shifting local and national restrictions, safety protocols, and surges, scheduling an event which properly celebrates your class has proven to be exceedingly complicated.

We recently surveyed the graduating class to assess when would be the best time for you and your families to travel back to New Orleans to celebrate your commencement. Based on your feedback, we plan to host in-person commencement events for your class during the Crawfest 2022 weekend. As you know, Crawfest is an iconic Tulane experience. By bringing the pomp and circumstance of a Tulane Commencement to this festival, we hope to provide a truly unique graduation ceremony.

Few classes in history have endured the level of disruption that the Class of 2020 has experienced. You are the first class in a century to graduate during a global pandemic. We have longed to celebrate your academic achievements, accomplishments and triumphs. Now that opportunity is on the horizon. With Crawfest currently scheduled for Saturday, April 23, 2022, the commencement planning team is evaluating the best time and location to hold a ceremony during Crawfest weekend to recognize and honor your academic accomplishments.

As soon as we have more details for your commencement celebration, we will be sending you more information. Until then, pencil us in! We can’t wait to welcome you back to campus.
