Dear Class of 2024 Graduates and Guests,

This email contains important information about Commencement events, including an important time change for Friday's School of Liberal Arts (SLA) Diploma Ceremony due to expected severe weather.

Due to severe weather expected for Friday evening into Saturday morning — and in consultation with our Office of Emergency Preparedness and Response and professional weather partners — tomorrow's SLA Diploma Ceremony has been moved to 2:00 p.m. in Yulman Stadium instead of 6:30 p.m.

We understand the inconvenience(s) this change may cause. However, it is necessary to ensure the safety of our grads and guests, and to ensure SLA graduates get the opportunity to cross the stage in the presence of their family, friends, and faculty. The ceremony will be livestreamed on the Commencement website.

SLA graduates and guests should visit the ceremony website for additional details on student lineup, arrival times, and other ceremony details.

At this time, weather is not expected to affect the timing of any other ceremonies or events. We will continue to communicate with graduates and guests in the event that should happen.

Text message updates will be sent by the Office of Emergency Preparedness and Response. Guests can sign up for these updates by texting tugrad to 888777.

For all Commencement-related events, please prepare for high temperatures, humidity, and potential rain. Water-resistant footwear, umbrellas, and raincoats are suggested. With in-person events in the outdoor Yulman Stadium, comfortable, breathable, and lightweight fabrics are key to a successful commencement experience.

As a reminder, all guests are permitted to bring one factory-sealed water bottle into Yulman Stadium. Handheld/neck-worn fans and umbrellas are also permitted. For information on the Clear Bag Policy and the full list of Prohibited Items, please visit the Know Before You Go page.

Tickets are required for all graduates and attendees at Unified Commencement at Yulman Stadium. The deadline to request tickets has passed, and tickets went out via email yesterday. Only graduates were permitted to request tickets. If you requested tickets and did not receive them yesterday, please email TUGrad@tulane.edu with the graduate's Splash ID number and email addresses for all guests.

Graduates Only: Wristbands will be required for all graduating students to participate in school diploma ceremonies and Unified Commencement. Students must bring their Splash ID or government-issued ID to their diploma ceremony to receive their wristband. For students not attending school ceremonies, wristbands will also be issued at student lineup at Unified Commencement. A Splash ID or government-issued ID must be presented to receive a wristband. Students will not be permitted on stages or in student lineup/seating areas without the university-issued wristband. Again, a wristband will not be issued without the student showing their Splash ID or government-issued ID confirming eligibility.
